Encouraging higher household incomes: God-Empowered

Through continued efforts to reach the most neglected people in society, the AGH God-Empowered Project, implemented by AMACOS 94/95 set, provided business empowerment grants to 60 beneficiaries in accordance with the approved project framework. In addition to financial business support, participants received packaged lunches and waist bags during the business training to help them navigate the complexities of managing funds and people.

The criticality of this intervention attracted additional support from Abeokuta North Local Government and AMACOS 94/99 Set, significantly expanding its reach and impact. The program combined ethical business principles, financial literacy, customer relationship management, and practical fund management with direct grants, creating opportunities for beneficiaries to strengthen both their values and business capacity.

While the AGH-sponsored participants each received the approved ₦30,000 in business capital, ninety-two participants received ₦20,000 trade support grants each through the local government’s chairman’s wife. Additionally, 37 traders who attended the program but were not originally listed as beneficiaries received trade support grants funded by the AMACOS 94/99 Set.

The project’s key outcomes include

  • Enhanced business knowledge among participating traders and micro-business operators in customer management, financial discipline, and ethical business practices.

  • Strengthened the “God factor” in business dealings through the “God Sees Me” message.

  • Provided direct financial support to deserving entrepreneurs.

  • Strengthened partnerships among philanthropists, civil society groups, and the local government.

  • Expanded the program impact beyond its original scope through additional stakeholder support.

  • Increased confidence in business growth and sustainability among the beneficiaries.

According to the project’s report, beneficiaries described the intervention as timely, impactful, and motivating. Many expressed confidence that the grants and business lessons would help their enterprises grow and become more sustainable. The program’s impact is expected to extend far beyond a single day, continuing to be reflected in stronger businesses, higher household incomes, renewed hope, and greater confidence among beneficiaries and their families.
