AGH gives renewed hope to 50 households during Christmas in Abeokuta, Nigeria

To help reach the most vulnerable in the Abeokuta North Local Government, Nigeria, during the Christmas season, After God Heart supported AMACOS (Association of Mass Communication Students, 94/99 set) for their annual Happiness Sharing initiative. The award included N25,000 (twenty-five thousand naira) given to 50 families each.

The economic situation in Nigeria is dire for most households, making Christmas celebrations more difficult. With skyrocketing food prices, receiving such an amount of money will not just cover a day’s worth of meals. It might also help with a needed capital infusion into the recipients’ petty trades, making it easier to feed their families for a while. The individuals served were members of the Ojere Community who needed support the most during the festive season, including non-teaching staff such as Cleaners, Gardeners, Watchmen, and villagers.

The project was said to have brought significant relief and renewed hope for vulnerable households across all beneficiary categories. The team reported that some beneficiaries broke down in tears after receiving the cash donation. One of the women who received the unexpected cash stated that she had a loan that had become a source of disgrace to her household, and it was due the day we gave her N25,000.00, but she had no hope of finding the money to repay it. The intervention came at the right time. She was full of praise to God and prayers for the AGH and AMACOS.
